Agaete can be found along the North coast of Gran Canaria, it is a small picturesque village where property is few and far between. It is lovely and quiet and close by is the resorts harbour, Puerto de Las Nieves and with its new promenade to increase tourism New developments are going up rapidly. Buying Property here or in its small village can be a great investment and is ideal, if you are looking for a laid back and relaxing lifestyle in a Country that has an excellent climate throughout the year!
Where Agaete is a quieter and not so well known resort (hence the prices) I believe that will change dramatically soon with the facelift of Puerto de Las Nieves, Although hopefully and to the relief of the many artists that live in Agaete the little village won't and you will still find traditional Canarian property - white washed little houses!! In this lovely resort you have a choice of either re-sales of old style properties, Apartments and houses, on the outskirts and heading towards Puerto de Las Nieves are complex's with New and Re-sale properties, Or Fincas and Villas or with your own private land, whichever is your preference. As you will see it isn't unrealistic to buy maybe your new home or possibly your holiday home, as an additional property to have a break and getaway from the hustle and bustle of your busy schedules! Or even if you are looking at buying as a business investment to rent out, whatever is your aspiration it could easily become a reality!
Heading towards Puerto de Las Nieves there are new property developments being built at present, they are building blocks at a time of Villas and Apartment complex's, close to the harbour and on the outskirts of Agaete, to enlarge the resort and accommodate for the huge growing population of the island!
There is not a lot of re-sale property available, and when it does come up it goes very quickly, as most people that visit this lovely village fall in love with it! Re-sale property comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, from The traditional Canarian houses, Villas, Houses, Bungalows, Fincas and one, two and three bedroom Apartments.
Apartments in Gran Canaria, In and around Agaete come in many different shapes and sizes. 2 bedroom properties are the most common as they are suitable for families and couples. If you are an investor looking to buy property to rent out, then these seem to be the more popular with the holiday makers due to the properties versatility!
Apartments in Agaete and Puerto de Las Nieves vary; how many bedrooms it has, whether or not you have a communal pool, fitness centre and what other facilities are on the grounds, and how far it is walking distance to the centre of the resort and the Beach. Mostly properties come part or fully furnished and it doesn't normally add a great deal on the price if any at all. Remember to ask when buying what the annual property maintenance cost is, as these can go up to as much as €5000 again it is depending on whether there are communal gardens and a swimming pool, which with the climate of the island can be a lot of work! But at the same time this is one of the great bonuses of having these complex and communal facilities - they are a lot less hard work for you! The swimming pools in the complex's that are privately owned are generally very quiet due to people not being in the country or if they are living there they are normally out working - normally they can get busier in the evening! Or maybe it will be above a shop / restaurant or bar, or in a block overlooking the popular harbour - there is a lot of choice!
Since the roman times, it has been a definition of your success to own your own villa! In Agaete and Puerto de Las Nieves in Northern Gran Canaria, this is far from being impossible. Villas, Houses and bungalows in San Agustin, the same as apartments come in completely different sizes and shapes! They start at a one bedroom, ranging up to 6 bedrooms sometimes more!! You can choose whether or not you have a detached villa or finca with your own private pool and land, these tend to be on the outskirts and around the beautiful Agaete valley. This type of property can be an absolute bargain - or can be a little more expensive, depending the state of the property whether or not it needs restoration and its location just how far out is it etc. Not always a great buy if you are looking to rent out, as location and being close to a busy resort, more often than not means a lot to tourists.
Or if you'd prefer a semi detached property or a small houses / bungalow along the centre of the resort in a typical canarian white washed house, these rarely go beyond a three bedroom and are not on complexes so generally do not have pool etc - although they are amazing and a great buy! Or a Semi detached property or bungalow in a complex on the outskirt of Agaete close to Puerto de Las Nieves these can come with a communal pool, having a communal pool is generally very pleasant, you have a maintenance man that take's care of the 'up keep' and cleaning of the swimming pool and around the communal area the gardens etc. Which gives you more time to relax! If you are buying property to let than this is generally a better choice! Also often there isn't normally many people around the pools if any at all! These normally start a lot less.
If you find a property you like act quick as they go extremely quickly and are extremely cheap - great investment, as I am positive that prices will go up soon here!
