Agaete is a tourist attraction within itself! In this small picturesque village located in Northern Gran Canaria you will find many art galleries and historical monuments and buildings. Staying here in Agaete, is ideal if you are a couple or family looking for a quiet break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The resorts port Puerto de Las Nieves has become increasingly popular with tourist due to the opening of the ferry service to Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Because of this the new promenade, Paseo de los Poetas was built as an investment to tourism and is lined with lovely seafood restaurants, shops and galleries. The ports historical features can be found in the lovely little chapel, Ermita de las Nieves. Here a 16th-century triptych depicting the Virgin and Child, painted by the famous Flemish artist Joost van Cleve can be found!
If you prefer just a relaxing beach holiday and using the facilities and some of the activities that are provided along the beach, There are a lot more small and unspoilt beaches or small fishing port's with little beaches, or long stretches of golden fine sand that aren't as well known with tourists and that cover the coastal line close by to Agaete.
The Nightlife in Agaete is quiet and more sophisticated than other resorts on the island. In Puerto de Las Nieves you will find plenty of lovely bars and nice seafood restaurants. But if you are looking at partying the night away then you will have to go to Las Palmas which is close by! The bars and restaurants in Agaete and Puerto de Las Nieves are perfect for sitting and watching the world go by until the early hours. Ideal for couples and families.

If you are looking for an active holiday there are plenty of places for you to visit and things to do in and surrounding Agaete and Puerto de Las Nieves in north Gran Canaria, Including the many monuments, chapels, galleries, museums and tourist attractions in its natural state. There are also theme and amusement parks close by to Agaete and surrounding the resort, unfortunately the majority though are in the South or close to Las Palmas, but still these are not that far due to the size of the island being so small. There theme and amusement parks that are close by are; Reptilandia Park which is a Reptile Park, Pueblo Canario - a Canary Village, designed and built in the 1930s by the brothers Néstor and Miguel Fernandez de la Torre to interest tourists in island culture, Parque de los Cocodrilo - a Crocodile Park, Gran Canaria's only zoological park and Cactualdea, a cactus park.
Other Tourist Attractions that are in Agaete include the water sports including; Deep Sea Fishing, Sailing, Surfing, Body Boarding and windsurfing, and also Whale and Dolphin excursions like many of the other Resorts in Gran Canaria!
When vacating to Agaete, you should really go exploring the rest of Gran Canarias island you will see many spectacular views and scenery, in the mountains, forests, coastal and spectacular beaches or sand dunes! These are all easily accessible from Agaete, whether you hire a car and explore in your own private group or perhaps take an excursion, which you can organise through a tour operator or it is easy to find a company that does this in the centre of the resort.
