Almunecar Beaches Almunecar has a 19 kilometre stretch of picturesque coastline flanked by high mountains. It consists mainly of sandy coves & rocky outcrops formed by the mountains as they slope down towards the seafront. It is also one of the most centrally located beaches in Almunecar & can be found in the Marina del Este port area. There are a good collection of restaurants & cafes flanking the beach area. An excellent range of watersports are available in the nearby port area. Facilities include;  Sun beds & umbrellas, toilets & showers, water sports, life guards, & regular police patrols. Playa Velilla / Velilla Beach Playa Velilla is located in the residential area of Velilla, just 2 kilometres east of Almunecar. A long beach at 2 kilometres, it is made up of a sand & shingle mix. An urban beach Playa Velilla is serviced by a range of restaurants & bars, as well as a seafront promenade. Playa El Tesorillo / El Tesorillo Beach Playa El Tesorillo is a small urbanized beach made up of fine sand. It measures under 100 metres in length & is flanked by a pleasant seafront promenade. Overlooking the beach area is a Moorish watchtower perched atop a collection of high rocks that tend to break the wind. This beach is certainly worth visiting, though it can get busy during the peak season.
