Situated close to the border of Portugal Ayamonte is a large but striking town with a busy fishing port. It has everything you would expect in terms of facilities; banks, shops, restaurants etc however the closest city from Ayamonte is Huelva which is very well connected by public transport. There is a open air market by the river Guadiana in Ayamonte, it is held every Saturday morning from around 10am-2pm, full of atmosphere and bursting with locals it is a great place to pick up souvenirs or food.
Ayamonte has many fiestas, a typical fiesta is celebrated annually and usually local businesses close, the roads are blocked off, and a street party is set up with food, drink and music in abundance. People of all ages join the party in singing and dancing. Then in the evening the there is usually a fair ground, and often on the last night there will be a fireworks display. Sometimes there is even a bank holiday the day after the fiesta for the town to recover!

There are two beaches to be found in the town of Ayamonte the Isla Canela Beach, and the Punta Moral beach. Both have generally calm waters and golden sand, and a similar level of facilities.
Situated not too far from Ayamonte is the Aqualand Bahia Waterpark. With 17 slides, a couple of cafes, and a shaded picnic area its a great family day out, there is even a private bus service that can pick up from your hotel if you book in advance. Ayamonte has typical Mediterranean weather, there are approximately 300 days of sun annually, with an average of 11 hours of sun during the summer. The winters in Ayamonte are extremely mild, with an average of 5hrs of sun per day. The max average temperature in August is 28ºC and in December is 14ºC. The best time to visit Ayamonte is from June till September.
