On a more cultural note there is the Museum of Archaeology, the Castle in Ibiza Town, Historical Ruins from the Arabs everywhere, Markets, the Can Marca Caves with their with stalagmites and stalactites, or the Ses Fontanelles Caves famous for cave paintings dating back to the Bronze age. Menorca is a quiet island with lots of traditional fishing villages green rolling hills with rugged rocky coastline along the northern side of the island, and on the southern side there is a sharp contrast it doesn't rain as much the ground is flatter and the beaches are sandy. Allot of Menorca is a biosphere reserve and protected by UNESCO so there is plenty of natural beauty. There are approximately 100 beaches in 216km of coastline in Menorca each with something for everyone. It is worth hiring a car to explore the beaches with caves, or the huge sweeping unpopulated golden sandy beaches, or the busy beaches with lots of water sports, restaurants, and interesting people watching. Formentera is very different from the other Balearic Islands. It feels as though you have travelled to another continent, not just another island. The main attraction to Formentera island is its tranquility, it is completely unspoilt. Most of the beaches in Formentera are nudists friendly, and Formentera is home to some of the best beaches in the Balearics. Just 150m from Formentera island is Espalmador Island, great for a day trip, the uninhabited island of Espalmador is just 3km in length and 1km wide. You can catch a boat to the island of Espalmador from port of Formentera there are many beaches with fine golden sand, no facilities at all, it is unknown whether nudity is accepted on this island. Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands has a population of just under 1,000,000. Tourism is the main industry, with about 11,000,000 visitors a year. The capital is Palma de Mallorca, with a third of the population living there. With a mild climate in the winter, hot summers, beautiful scenery, beaches and great hotels, you can see why it is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world. To the northwest of the island is the Tramontana mountain range, giving rise to high cliffs, contrasting with the central plains and sandy beaches on the rest of Mallorca island. The tourist is well catered for with a variety of quality hotels, standard, basic hotels, through to hostels and camp sites. Similarly with food, all tastes are catered for, with luxury restaurants and fast food chains, international cuisine or local specialities, there is something for everyone on Mallorca.
