Barcelona Weather The climate in Barcelona is welcoming pretty much all year round. Its summers are hot, without being oppressive, & in July & August boast average highs of 29°C (82°F). Barcelona's coldest month is January, & its winters (though a good deal cooler than in Spain's southern regions) still reach average highs of 13°C (55°F). This means that there is the potential to have lunch al fresco, or take part in outdoor activities all year round. However Barcelona's northern location means that during the winter months it can endure the odd cold spell. It is also considerably wetter here than in the South, with average rainfall at around 1,000mm per annum. The upside to this is evident in the green & fertile lands that surround the city, & in Barcelona's many parks.
