Blanes Holidays Blanes is a great destination for a family holiday. Firstly it is located in close proximity to two international airports; Barcelona Airport (BCN), which is Spain's second ranked airport in terms of passenger traffic & amongst the ten busiest in Europe, & Girona Airport (GRO) offering yet more flight options & closer proximity to the Costa's main resorts. This is mainly from an accessibility point of view, but also because of the wide choice of accommodation on offer. The Mediterranean town of Blanes is a popular tourist hot spot for Spanish holiday makers, as well as those from other European nations. This has been the case since the 1950's, when the major contributor to the town's economy switched from fishing to the tourist trade. This led to the doubling of it's resident population in just fifteen years. Many hotel & apartment complexes were built along the seafront, which today remains the major attraction here & boasts three blue flag sandy beaches. Blanes also prides itself in offering it's visitors a taste of real Spain, with traditional fiestas & street markets taking place, as well as the vibrant family friendly atmosphere that is present on warm summer evenings. One of Blanes' biggest draws is in the diversity of accommodation on offer. In fact the most accessible of Blanes Beaches are blue flag rated & kept meticulously clean. The majority of them are made up of course golden sand, but there are pebbled beaches & rocky alcoves farther afield for those who prefer to indulge in a spot of snorkeling. Blanes' is not nearly as busy in the evenings as that of neighboring Lloret de Mar. The town features a collection of restaurants & bars to keep visitors interested, though they are aimed mainly at families. Of course some venues will stay open until the early hours, but not in any quantity. With average highs of 31°C in the summer months & 16°C in the winter, it is possible to enjoy an outdoor life at any time of the year. However be aware during the winter season low temperatures can be a good deal cooler than in Spain's southern regions.
