| Cala Saona Tourist Information The best time to visit Cala Saona (also known as Cala Sahona) is between May and October, high season is from June to September. Cala Saona is a small town located on the west coast of Formentera, with Porto Saler and La Savina (to the north) and Sant Francesc Xavier situated slightly inland. There is much to do in and around Cala Saona (also known as Cala Sahona). The beach in Cala Saona is a small sheltered cove with fine golden sand and generally calm waters there are boats for hire umbrellas too a couple of beach bars, and water sports, nudity is normally accepted on this beach. Tourism is quiet in Cala Saona (also known as Cala Sahona) itself which is most peoples idea of heaven. Formentera is an unspoilt island great for a relaxing "get away from it all" holiday. Home to most of the best beaches within the Balearics with white fine sand, shallow crystal clear waters, with very good underwater visibility (perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving). Most beaches have bars selling drinks and tapas, allot have boats for hire and all are recommended for snorkeling, and scuba diving. Most of the beaches in Formentera are tolerant of the nudists and some are completely naked, nudist, au naturale beaches. Espalmador island is great fun for a day from Formentera. Espalmador is a small uninhabited island located just 150m from Formentera and measures 3km x 1km. There are many beaches with fine golden sand, no facilities at all so take plenty of food, drink, and sun cream, it is unknown whether nudity is accepted on Espalmador island. There are many sporting activities to choose from in Formentera including; windsurfing, fishing, sailing, fishing, boating, cycling, hiking, snorkeling, scuba diving, bird watching, painting, and photography. You can visit the sand dunes, caves, lakes, windmills, view points, lighthouses, and markets to name but a few.
