Calella Fiestas Spanish towns & cities are famous for their festivals or fiestas & Calella is no exception. There are plenty of fiestas throughout the town calendar, see below for some of the more popular events:-
Throughout the months of June, July, & August the traditional Catalan dance of the Sardana is performed on the seafront promenade. This event takes place every Sunday at 7.30pm. The Festival of St. James takes place on the 21st of July on one of the central-most areas of the beach promenade. Events culminate with a firework display. September 11th comemorates the Catalan defeat at the hands of the Spanish army of Castile in 1714. From this day on Catalan rights & laws were abolished, & the fiesta is seen as a re-vindication of this event.
Precise dates cannot be given for the above festivities due to the ever changing fiesta calendar. The best advice we can give for those planning their holiday at fiesta time is to contact the Calella tourist office. Tourist Information Offices Girona +34 972 419 419 Lloret de Mar +34 972 364 735
