Calella Holidays Calella is an excellent destination for a family holiday. Firstly it is located in close proximity to two international airports; Barcelona Airport (BCN), which is Spain's second ranked airport in terms of passenger traffic & amongst the ten busiest in Europe, & Girona Airport (GRO) offering yet more flight options & closer proximity to the Costa's main resorts. See Calella Flights for more information/to search for flights. Those intending on visiting other parts of Spain or indeed the south of France will find Calella an ideal base to do this from. This is mainly from an accessibility point of view, but also because of the wide choice of accommodation on offer. Opportunities for car hire are also good; see the Calella Car Hire document for more information. The town of Calella is a modern package tourism resort with over three kilometres of spotlessly clean sandy beaches. The town is actually situated on the Costa Maresme (part of Barcelona's municipality), even though it is often more readily associated with the coastal resorts of the Costa Brava. Looking beyond Calella the surrounding countryside is an attraction in it's own right, as it is favoured amongst those who travel to the area to participate in adventure sports (from hiking & mountain biking to rock climbing & skiing). One of Calella's biggest draws is in the diversity of accommodation on offer. There are a multitude of good quality & affordable options on hotels & rental properties, catering from high-end offerings to budget travel requirements. To search for hotels see Calella Hotels; to search for rental accommodation see Calella Apartments. When it comes to beaches Calella is a good place to come. In fact most of the accessible Calella Beaches are blue flag rated & kept meticulously clean. The majority of them are made up of course golden sand, but there are pebbled beaches & rocky alcoves farther afield for those who prefer to indulge in a spot of snorkeling. Calella' is not nearly as busy in the evenings as some of it's coastal neighbors. The town does features a collection of restaurants & bars to keep visitors interested, though they are aimed mainly at families. Of course some venues will stay open until the early hours, but not in any quantity. There are also some traditional annual fiestas or festivals to look out for, see Calella Fiestas for more information. Calella Weather is in the main welcoming all year round. With average highs of 31°C in the summer months & 16°C in the winter, it is possible to enjoy an outdoor life at any time of the year. However be aware during the winter season low temperatures can be a good deal cooler than in Spain's southern regions.
