Carmona Carmona has an important history, with pre-historic remains found here alongside the ruins of the buildings of later Roman settlers. Carmona was also the capital of a small city-state under the Moors, meaning that there are a number of palatial constructs (now hotels) in the town. This brought battle between the Christians and the Moors during the 13th century giving Carmona significance under Christian rule; for example the well preserved castle which looks out over the town was once used as a royal residence.
