Plaza Catalunya Plaza Catalunya (Catalunya Square) once stood outside the city walls, marking the entrance to Barcelona. Today it is most definately inside the city, sitting between the Eixample & Ciutat Vella (old town) districts, near the top end of the La Rambla boulevard. The square itself is enormous, spanning over 50,000 square metres. Surrounding it are many grand imposing buildings, most of them housing headquarters for banks & other large companies. There are two sculptures of interest at Plaza Catalunya; Josep Clara's - La Divinidad, & Pablo Gargallo's - Pastor Tocando el Caramillo.
