Church Convent of San Esteban The Church of San Esteban (Saint Stephen) is one of the Salamanca's most beautiful religious buildings. Dating from the 16th century this church is an immense construct, large enough to be thought a Cathedral. It's main facade is at once striking and is the buildings most interesting feature. It boasts a huge amount of detailed stone carving depicting events such as the crucifixion of Christ and the stoning of St. Stephen. A huge stone archway crowns the facade which is itself topped by a singular traditional bell as a centre piece. Though generally less impressive than it's exterior, the interior of the church does have a very large gold altarpiece, as well as a beautiful interior room.
