City of Arts and Sciences Valencia's City of Arts and Sciences is perhaps the citys most notable modern construct, and is home to the city's Arts Centre, Science Museum, Planetarium, and Oceanographic Park. Designed by local architect Santiago Calatrava it is a huge cityscape encompassing over 350,000 m² of the bed of the now diverted Turia River which ran through the city center. The City of Arts and Sciences is almost entirely white and futuristic in appearance, with much use of water as a way of mirroring the appearance of its constructs. Each building is also not only functional but representative of its purpose. All in all the City of Arts and Sciences is a must see for any visiting the city for more than an afternoon. It has also regenerated an underdeveloped area and joined together two halves of the city in an interesting and unique fashion.
