El Medano is a small coastal resort, in the south of Tenerife, only 7km from Sur Reina Airport and 20km from the Main Southern resorts, Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos.
Known mainly by tourist for windsurfing and surfing. El Medano is an excellent place for you to practice Windsurfing and Surfing whether you are a beginner (Tenerife has several windsurfing schools) or someone with more experience, with its open flat beach that's facing East, although windy it is not too choppy, which makes it an ideal all year round windsurfing competition site.
There are also several more sheltered beaches ideal for sunbathing and bathing.

Around the beach front and square you will a number of bars, restaurant and shops. With a variety to choose from. But is a far cry from being lively it is perfect if you are wanting to sit outside a bar watch the world go by and sip a cold beer!! But if you are wanting to Party then you will have to take the short trip to Playa de las Americas (15miles) for a more lively evening out!!
It is more popular with Spanish and German's as it is not a typical holiday resort, with a few basic tourist accommodation and hotels o the outskirts. It is 'in the middle of no-where' although extremely close to the Airport! This is definitely a place to visit, but if you are looking for more entertainment then I wouldn't recommend you staying here, if you are wanting a chilled out relaxing beach holiday then this is for you. You will need to hire a car to get anywhere or get a bus or taxi to go exploring!
