El Transito Synagogue The El Transito Synagogue in Toledo (also known as the Synagogue Samuel Ha-Levi) was constructed back in the 14th century. It is decorated in Arabic and Hebrew inscriptions alongside beautiful geometric and floral artwork. The El Transito Synagogue is widely thought of as being one of the most significant pieces of Spanish-Jewish art. It is also one of the later large scale Jewish constructs before their expulsion from Spain at the hands of the Spanish Inquisition.
