Welcome to El Medano Shopping
The Canary Islands is duty free, so that includes Tenerife and El Medano! So if you are looking to buy tobacco, wines, spirits, Jewellery and perfumes, look no further they are much cheaper here than in other EU countries!
If whilst on holiday you are wanting to do some serious shopping, then you will have to leave El Medano and go across the island where there are several shopping centre's that have sprung up! There's; Corte Ingles department store in Santa Cruz, Carrefour off the TF-1 motorway and Continente next to the TF-5 motorway.
El Medano has all the usual extremely cheap electrical goods, so if you are wanting a new camera or maybe somehing else then take a look at the prices here! You will also find the usual souvenir shops and a small array of clothes shops mostly sports gear and bikinis! More commonly in the South of Tenerife there are a lot of local craft shops that sell products such as, volcanic sculptures, embroidery and pottery.
The Place of Pearls isn't far away - this is a fantastic thousand square feet completely devoted to pearls and pearl jewellery!!

If you, like me like the markets for a good haggle and great bargain there are plenty across the island of Tenerife, But none in El Medano although there are a few close by...Make sure you try to barter as it makes that bargain even more satisfying!!!
