Exploring Toledo Province Toledo is not just a city but the name of the province of which it is the capital. Toledo province is itself located within the larger autonomous region of Castile-La Mancha. El Toboso is a small town of just over 2,000 inhabitants made famous by Cervantes in his world famous novel Don Quixote. Talavera de le Reina is a small city located in the wetern portion of Toledo province. Talavera de La Reina has a long history dating back to the time of Roman occupation on the peninsular. Ocana is a small town to the far north of Toledo province that has been around since the Romans ruled on the peninsular. Surrounded by old (partially ruined) walls. Tembleque is a village approximately 50 kilometres from Toledo with a population of just over 2,000. Oropesa is a medieval town of around 2,000 inhabitants. It remains relatively unchanged over the years.
