Fishing in Andorra can be undertaken in it's many mountain rivers and lakes. Many of the principalities lakes are restocked with trout every couple of years from a government run trout hatchery. The best place for anglers to fish is possibly Lake Engolasters just above Escaldes, which is Andorra's largest and hosts all the angling competitions. There are however many more reachable secluded lakes, as well as fly fishing opportunities in the rivers around the Arinsal or Ordino valleys.
Andorra's river fishing season starts in mid-April, however anglers must wait until mid-June for the beginning of the lake fishing season. Visitor fishing licences are available from any fishing tackle shop or tourist information office. There are daily or weekly permits available which are typically very reasonable.
