Formentera Beaches
The main attraction to Formentera island is its tranquility the fact it is completely unspoilt. Home to most of the best beaches within the Balearics with white fine sand, shallow crystal clear waters, with very good under water visibility (great for snorkeling and scuba diving). It is worth knowing that if the wind is blowing from the north visit the southern coastal beaches, and visa versa.
The majority of beaches have beach bars selling tapas, some with boats for hire either with or without a crew. Most of the beaches in Formentera are tolerant of the nudists and many are completely naked, nudist, au naturale beaches. Below are details of individual beaches on Formentera island:
Cala Saona - is a small sheltered cove with fine golden sand and generally calm waters there are boats for hire umbrellas too a couple of beach bars, and water sports, nudity is normally accepted on this beach
Es Calo - a small sandy beach north facing popular for scuba diving and snorkeling, nudity is normally accepted on this beach
Es Migjorn - is a popular large beach with a mix of sand and stone, generally calm waters and the following facilities available; water sports, umbrellas, beach bars, boats for hire, and life guards, nudity is normally accepted on this beach
Es Pujols - located in the main town nudity is not excepted here, many restaurants, and cafes close by
Els Arenals (also known as Mal Pas) - is a small quiet beach with fine golden sand and generally calm waters, no facilities, and nudist bathers are welcome
Illetas (also known as Tanga) - is situated in north west Formentera in a protected nature park close to Levante beach with nothing manmade around with fine golden sand and generally calm waters, unknown whether nudity is accepted at this beach
La Savina - located by the main port and main marina on the island lots of cafes close by sailing and windsurfing facilities, unknown whether nudity is accepted at this beach
Playa de Levante - (also known as Tanga) - is situated in north east Formentera close to the Illetas beach in a protected nature park with nothing manmade around with fine golden sand and generally calm waters, unknown whether nudity is accepted at this beach
Sa Torreta (Espalmador) - on the neighboring uninhabited island of Espalmador (just 150m from Formentera 3km long by 1km wide) you can catch a boat to the island of Espalmador from port of Formentera there are many beaches with fine golden sand, no facilities at all, unknown whether nudity is accepted on this island
Sa Roqueta - a small beach with beach bars popular with nudists and dressed bathers
Ses Ampolles - popular nudist and dressed beach
Salga - unknown whether nudity is accepted at this beach
En Pou - not far from the marina this is a beach with fine golden sand and generally calm waters, no facilities, unknown whether nudity is accepted at this beach
Sa Senyora - a medium size beach with fine golden sand, and generally calm waters, no facilities, and unknown whether nudity is accepted at this beach
Galera - close to town and the Es Pujols beach, nudity is accepted here but unpopular at this beach
Playa del Ingles - popular nudist and dressed beach
Corralejo - popular nudist and dressed beach
