Gandia Fiestas Spanish towns and cities are famous for their fiestas and some of those held in Gandia are well known. Many fiestas (especially the larger ones) correspond to particular periods of city history. The best advice we can give for those planning their holiday at fiesta time is to contact the relevant tourist office.
Being located in the province of Valencia, Gandia celebrates the Las Fallas fiesta. Taking place in mid March (typically 16th-19th) celebrations are on a large scale considering Gandia's size. A major part of the fiesta are the impressive (and often large) figurines depicting satirical scenes of everyday life. There are also a wide range of other attractions including parades, paella cooking competitions, beauty pageants, music, and lots of fireworks. The last day of the Las Fallas fiesta sees the ritual burning of the figurines on bonfires together with firework displays and intense celebration.
