Girona Weather The climate in Girona is welcoming for the vast majority of the year. Its summers are sufficiently hot without being oppressive (July & August boasting average highs of 31°C). Girona's coldest month is January, & its winters (though a good deal cooler than in Spain's southern regions) still reach average highs of 16°C. This means there is the potential to have lunch al fresco, or take part in outdoor activities all year round. However visitors should take note the towns northern location means that during the winter months it can endure the odd cold spell. It is also considerably wetter than the climate of the south of Spain, with average rainfall at around 1,000mm per annum. The upside to this is evident in the green & fertile lands that surround Girona, & in the many parks & conservation areas around the town & it's surrounding areas.
