Gran Canaria has one Airport that is located 11 miles South of the Capital of the island Las Palmas. The Airport code is LPA.
The Arrivals lounge is the first thing that you will come to when arriving at Gran Canaria. It is located on the ground floor of the passenger terminal and although small, it is divided into three sections, Zone A; EU Flights, Zone B; Non EU Flights and Zone C; Inter Island Flights. You will find here the usual Customs, then the baggage reclaim carousels, to locate your luggage you can consult the monitors that are placed at the entrance of the lounge and they will tell which conveyor belt your luggage will appear! Then you will go through to the Arrivals Hall! Here are either the tour operators or people who have come to the airport to meet relatives or friends from a flight can obtain information on the arrival hall via the monitors located in the terminal lobbies. Its is relatively is and stress free to get through.
Departures is simular, it is split into three different sections, Zone A; Departures of flights to countries belonging to the European Union, Zone B; International flights departures, Zone C; Inter-island flights departures. They are located on the first floor of the airport, in the passenger terminal. Gran Canaria airport has 86 check-in desks, 52 of which serve EC flights and 34 island and international flights. All are indicated on the information channels at the entrance to the terminal. Once through check-in you can go through security to the departure lounge, here you will find an aray of shops, restaurants / cafe's and bars. When it is time to board you must go to your located gate, The airport has a total of 35 boarding gates, divided into three zones: A (EU flights), B (international flights) and C (island or regional flights), where 24, 6 and 5 gates are located, respectively.

Airport Facilities
There are plenty of facilites at Gran Canaria Airport including;
Money and communications, There is a bank on the ground floor of Zone A and ATMs on the first floor. There are bureaux de change in the EU Arrivals hall and in the check-in halls on the ground floor.
There is a post office in the International Arrivals hall. An Internet café is situated after security on the first floor of EU Departures (Zone A).
Eating and drinking: There are coffee shops, bars and fast-food stands on both the Arrivals and Departures floors; a 24-hour deli is located in Zone A (before security).
Shopping: Shops at the airport include a duty-free shop, clothes shop, sportswear shop, toy and sweet shop, several gift shops, a leather goods shop, a florists, a jewellers, a clothing accessories shop, an electrical goods and music shop, and a mini supermarket.
Luggage: Lost property offices are located in all zones (tel: (0)928 579 130).
Other facilities: There is a 24-hour medical service, a pharmacy, baby rooms, a children’s play room, a chapel and several travel agencies and tour operators.
A conference room is located in the corridor connecting the International and the EU check-in halls. The Sala Galdós VIP lounge is situated on the terrace of the second floor, above the EU Departures lounge; there is also a press lounge on the first floor between Zones B and C.
Throughout the terminal and airport there are plenty of disabled facilities, there are lifts and ramps in the terminal for disabled access. Disabled parking spaces are provided on each level of the car park. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.
