The nightlife in Gran Canaria can be whatever you want it to be, if you want to party the night away Gran Canaria has an array of bars, restaurants and discos that enable's you to party until the early hours, Or maybe you are looking for more of a sophisticated nightlife where you can dine and drink under the stars, away from the hustle and bustle well there are resorts in Gran Canaria that have that too!
If its partying you want then there's no where better than the two main Gran Canaria's resort hotspots, Playa del Ingles and Puerto Rico, these resorts come to life at night, You’ll find everything here from dance bars, piano bars and cocktail bars to lively discos that throb until breakfast time.
Whilst in the South head for Kasbah, Playa del Ingles where you can take your pick of hundreds of bars, disco pubs and nightclubs. There are gay bars and clubs, cocktail bars, Irish bars, sports bars, café bars with live music and almost every other kind of bar imaginable. Or Holiday World which is a late night amusement park, with bars and 2 discos in too! It is free entry to most of the nightclubs but you can spend a lot on drinks as they can tend to be a lot more expensive! The bigger clubs don't really get going until around 1am but then they can party well into the early hours, It may be a good idea to join in the locals tradition and take a siesta so you can keep up with the pace! Two of the more popular clubs in town are Joy, here it plays pop and commercial music, and Cream, here it plays more hardcore dance music.
In Plaza Maspalomas, Sunset Boulevard has live music and entertainment every night with DJs playing the latest music - It is good for pasta dishes, pizzas and freshly grilled meat too!
Alabama's is brilliant and probably the best for RnB, soul, blues, reggae and rock & roll you'd be hard pushed to find better live music than here! It is situated next to the Hippodrome.
Near Maspalomas Plaza and Kasbah, is Harley Rock this is a favourite haunt with tourists. Harley Rock is an American-style diner with "Tex-Mex" food, that is served till 3am, rock music and live shows. There's a happy hour from midnight till 1am!
In Puerto Rico, you will find one of the liveliest nightspots, Snoopy's Bar, Snoopy's is a late night party pub that is frequented by the young and trendy! However Barbacoa Puerto Rico, has seating for 300 and puts on three free shows a night, with everything from international vocalists and 'soundalikes' to crude comedians.
In San Augustin and Las Palmas you can take in a show at the casino and then try your luck at the gaming tables.
Or for a more family fun night out try visiting Sioux City for a barbecue and Wild West show!
Throughout the rest of the island there are plenty of places for nightlife, depending on your preference of a night out! To eat there is everything from lovely Tapas Bars and more traditional Canarian restaurants to the typical Chinese, English etc wherever you are staying! Around the quieter resorts and coastal villages you will find lots of little fishing ports where you can just sit under the stars until the early hours watching the world go by!
