Alcazar Genil Granada's Alcazar Genil was once the main residence of Aixa; the mother of Boabdil, the last Moorish Sultan of Granada. It was originally built under the reign of Sultan Yusuf I & boasts sumptuous decoration & detailed engraving throughout. Worth mentioning is its finely carved wooden ceiling in the shape of a five pointed star. When the Moorish kingdom was handed over to the Christian monarchs Aixa sold the riverside palace to the new rulers & went to serve her exile in the mountains in the Alpujarra region.
