Grand Theatre of Cordoba The Grand Theatre of Cordoba was first inaugurated in 1873; a time when many great Spanish theatres were opening, and thriving. Of grand design it remained one of the city's most popular attractions until it's closing in 1970. Then bought privately the theatre was all but to be demolished, and had the city council not intervened it most certainly would have been. State ownership saw significant restoration works undertaken and the promotion of the building as a historical-artistic attraction. Today the theater plays host to various events; from Flamenco performances, to more traditional theatre, and concerts of a classical and more modern nature.
