House of Shells One of the most unique buildings in Salamanca is the Casa de Conchas (or House of Shells). Built for Doctor Rodrigo Arias in the 15th century it is very representative of the style of architecture at that time; incorporating Gothic, Italian, and Moorish styles. It's name comes from the adornment of the buildings facades in 350 carved stone shells. The Casa de Conchas can be found in the very centre of Salamanca.
