Jerez is situated on the south coast of mainland Spain slightly inland from Cadiz; the capital of the Costa de la Luz. Jerez full name is Jerez de la Frontera. Jerez translated is Sherry, the whole town is named after its main export which is the sweet wine; Sherry. Jerez is renowned for its Sherry (its well worth visiting a vineyard), Flamenco Dancing, and Spanish Horses; the equestrian centre and museums are a must. Jerez is a stunning city, with much to do including the Flamenco Museum, Arabic baths, and parks to name but a few.
There are two golf courses within Jerez; the Montecastillo Golf Club, and the Sherry Golf Jerez Golf Club. Both golf courses are 18 hole par 72, and there are many more golf courses just outside of Jerez. For contact details of all Jerez golf clubs see Jerez Golf.
Renowned for its high standard of horse riding and horses Jerez has its own Horse Fiestas annually in May. It takes place in the Gonzalez Hontoria Park, and the locals are usually very welcoming of anyone who wishes to join in.
The closest water park to Jerez is the Aqualand Bahia Waterpark. With 17 slides, a couple of cafes, and a shaded picnic area its a great family day out, there is even a private bus service that can pick up from your hotel if you book in advance. Please see Jerez Water Parks for more information.
Jerez has typical Mediterranean weather, there are approximately 300 days of sun annually, with an average of 11 hours of sun during the summer. The winters in Jerez are extremely mild, with an average of 5 hours of sun per day. The max average temperature in August is 28ºC and in December is 14ºC.
