Based just inland from Santa Cruz, La Laguna is situated in the Aguere valley amongst the beautiful countryside!
La Laguna was founded in 1497 on the shores of a lake, which has dried up over the last century. With its population over 125,180 and its historical background it is the second most important city in the province of Tenerife! Santa Cruz the Capital of Tenerife being the first, La Laguna was the Capital up until 1723. It is still known though as the cultural and religious capital however as the San Fernando University and the Province's Bishopric (Bishops Palace) are based here.

Its amazing architecture fills the whole city! With traditional houses from the seventeenth and eighteenth century, monuments, religious buildings and palaces. These are all truly outstanding and well worth a visit! You can find History and art the Casa Ossuna Museum, the Concepción Church's Museum, the Friends of the Country Economic Society Museum and the Cathedral's Museum.
On the outskirts of La Laguna are the towns of Tejina and Valle Guerra - which are rich in agriculture, and Bajamar and Punta del Hidalgo, now tourist resorts with first class hotels, natural swimming pools and remarkable landscapes. La Cuesta and Taco, are where part of the industries of the Island have been situated in the last few years, they are also part of La Laguna.
