La Lonja La Lonja was the marketplace or trade centre of Zaragoza in the 16th century. At this time the city underwent a major economic boom, becoming a major national trading centre. The La Lonja building was erected to serve as a place where traders could meet to discuss their business and quickly became a major civil hub for the city and a marvel for visitors.
