La Pineda La Pineda is another of the main tourist resorts on the Costa Dorada. Like other towns on the Costa it transformed its economy from that of a fishing village to focus on tourism in the 1960's. La Pineda markets itself as a family destination, & is most popular amongst Spanish, Russian, & UK tourists who flock here during the summer season. Aside from La Pineda's long sandy beach-front the town is popular for its many outdoor stand-up bars lined up along the Paseig Pasals. They distinguish the town from others on the Costa & are a worthy alternative to the usual format. Surrounding La Pineda are a network of walking & cycling trails popular amongst eco/adventure tourists. In recent years residential tourism has made its way to La Pineda. However the identity & traditions of the people that live here are still very much alive, & many fiestas take place throughout the town calendar. Local cuisine is another bonus, with affordable good food available everywhere, alongside middle to high end restaurants. The climate in La Pineda is welcoming for the majority of the year; highs reach 28°C during the hottest months, & average temperatures are at 7-10°C during the winter. However visitors should be aware that temperatures are on average 2-4°C cooler if venturing inland.
