Las Galletas is a typical example of a Canarian village and the culture, with its narrow streets and little squares both filled with restaurants and cafes, where you will find people sitting, watching the world go by.

It is a small fishing village, surrounded by banana plantations. Up until recently there wasn't a marina there but there was however, a small natural harbour with a stony beach this is where you will find the local fishermen selling their days catch to the local housewives or the occasional tourist brave enough to attempt to do business! From there you can see the beautiful promenade that again is lined with bars and restaurants that are perfect to sit under the starts until the early hours.

Las Galletas on the coast line just a ten minute stroll from the lovely resort of Costa del Silencio in the south of Tenerife. The Ten-Bel complex on the edge of the small fishing village of Las Galletas was the first area in the south of Tenerife to be developed specifically for tourism. The project, which was Belgian-Tinerfeno nearly didn't get finished due to the manana syndrome, that is typical if Tenerife as with the Canary Islands and Spain! Fortunately it did and has been used for about thirty years. It is still a good design concept being low rise blocks of apartments set in spacious well maintained garden areas with many different swimming pools, restaurants and entertainment areas. Now there are many other hotels going up in the resort and surronding it.
You will find one small black sandy beach in Las Galletas, but there are also other rocky ones and some points around the coast with steps down to platforms from which to dive into the crystal clear water. In the resort there are diving centres like with many of the coastal resorts in Tenerife. These offer the experienced diver as well as the complete novice the chance to view life underwater in all year round warm clear water. Throughout the summer months Las Galletas is a great place for surfing also, again you will be able to find surf schools around the resort for the beginner or the more advanced.
Recently the new project of a new golf complex, has been given the 'go ahead' close to Las Galletas like most other resorts everywhere in Tenerife wants a golf course and the government have decided to encourage this as the development of golf courses is a great method of attracting good quality tourism to the island! This will undoutbly have houses, villas and hotels built around probably doubling if not tripling the size of this little village, so at present it is a great investment to buy there.
As it is in the south it is close by to many tourist attractions that you will tend to find close to the main resorts like that of Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas, surrounding here you will find many amusement, theme parks and water parks!! As well as museums and historical monuments. Also from Las Galletas you will be able to take part in excursions exploring the island and its surrounding waters and neighbouring islands. You can book these excursions in some shops along the high street or with you tour operator, if you have one!
This really is a lovely place to see whilst vacating in Tenerife, I would highly recommend staying here and if not then it is most definitely worth a visit and maybe a little lunch on the promenade!
