Los Abrigos is a small, traditional Canarian fishing village located in the south of Tenerife in between El Medano and Golf del Sur. It is well worthy of a visit to actually experience the true, quieter way of Spanish living. With its lovely harbour that has a fabulous selection of fish restaurants, that are amazing with a such a selection some the food is so fresh still that it is still swimming!! Also the harbour side café's - here you could rest a while and watch the world go by, including the locals in their boats just enjoying their day relaxing on the protected waters of the harbour.

There are several beaches close by to the complex in the various resorts that surround it, including small and secluded or long stretches of white fine sand!! Most are child friendly, with water sports, ringo's paragliding and banana boats, along the shore and bars and restaurant along the edge of the sand!

The nightlife in Los Abrigos is virtually non-existent! Perfect for a lovely evening meal and gentle stroll but heading home to bed, but if you are looking to party the night away then you will have to go elsewhere. The modern complex of Golf del Sur is close by and has a varied nightlife there are wide range of bars and restaurants within the Golf del Sur, some are a lot quieter, catering more for the family and older people, and some are orientated around the younger the clientele, although you will also find close by and within easy reach are Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos and in both of these resorts you will find a bigger and livelier kind of nightlife, Playa de las Americas being the place to go if you are looking to paint the town red and party into the early hours, Los Cristianos being the resort to go to if you are wanting to party a little maybe with the family...?
El Medano is a small coastal resort, close to Los Abrigos, in the south of Tenerife, only 7km from Sur Reina Airport and 20km from the Main Southern resorts, Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos. Known mainly by tourist for windsurfing and surfing. El Medano is an excellent place for you to practice Windsurfing and Surfing whether you are a beginner (Tenerife has several windsurfing schools) or someone with more experience, with its open flat beach that's facing East, although windy it is not too choppy, which makes it an ideal all year round windsurfing competition site. There are also several more sheltered beaches ideal for sunbathing and bathing too. Around the beach front and square you will a number of bars, restaurant and shops. With a variety to choose from. But is a far cry from being lively it is perfect if you are wanting to sit outside a bar watch the world go by and sip a cold beer!! But, again if you are wanting to Party then you will have to take the short trip to Playa de las Americas (15miles) for a more lively evening out!!
Golf del Sur, is also close by to Los Abrigos and is a large complex situated in the South of Tenerife as its name describes it is a golf complex, so is ideal for golfers, With the all year round weather no wonder it has become one of the top destinations for a golfing holiday!! The Golf del Sur was built in 1987. You will notice at this course that the bunkers are made from black sand from the neighbouring Mount Tiede volcano. This is the place where professional golfer Karl Woodward had a 408 yard strike; the longest ever drive recorded!! The Golf del Sur is the home of the Tenerife Open where world stars such as Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els have all tried their hand around this spectacular course.
There are plenty of Tourist attraction's close by to Los Abrigos too, obviously there is the two brilliant golf courses, but you will also find the waterparks and amusement parks, if your not playing golf, relaxing on the beach or at your pool nursing your head from the night before!! Such as the main water park is at the resort of Playa de las Americas, Octopus Aqua Park! The other one on the island isn't far either! There are also Zoos, Gardens, Whale watching and Dolphin watching, go-karting, fishing and lost of water sports! So you will never be stuck for anything to do!
There are very few of Apartments and villas that available to rent for your holiday, in the Los Abrigos, although there are more in its neighbouring towns El Medano and Golf del Sur - Between these resort you will be able to find either basic properties, somewhere just to lie your head a night to luxurious with an abundance of communal or private facilities! Properties range in size and shape, from studio's or one bedroom apartments, if there are just the two of you to three bedroom - normally sleeping up 8 if your taking the family or going in a big group, or one bedroom villas and bungalows up to maybe 8 bedroom villas!
There are Companies that rent these properties out, but also there is private rentals, where people that have bought the property for holiday homes and when they are not there using it they will rent it out for your exclusive use! These properties are set in a privately owned complex, where some locals live! They come with communal swimming pools too, and the pools are normally quieter due to the fact it isn't full of holiday makers and is more residencial. A word of warning though these are quieter and normally better for families or older groups than the young tourists!!!
