| Welcome to Magaluf Magaluf is a lively resort in the south of Mallorca / Majorca. It is likened to Blackpool with sun (and better beaches!)! It is perfect for a party hard holiday, as in the area, in and around Magaluf and Palma Nova boasts well over 100 bars. Magaluf is probably the most popular resort with the British holiday makers to the island. With its variety of bars, restaurants and top nightclubs and night spots, its sure to be a winner among the younger generation. The easiest way to get to Magaluf from the airport is to get a taxi which will roughly cost you around 30 and take about 15 minutes or an airport transfer will take you about 1 hour! Son Sant Joan, Palma is the nearest airport to Magaluf and the only one on the island! There are many airlines that fly to Mallorca / Majorca from most UK Airports and all over Europe. The prices can really vary, again depending on which airline and what time of year etc but generally you can get a great deal and will not be looking at more than £100 for a return flight. Easyjet do some fantastic deals and occasionally you can even get a flight to Majorca for as little as £10! The flight time is about two / two and a half hours from London airports. Accommodation is easy to come by in Mallorca / Majorca, In the lovely resorts that cover the island, there are many excellent hotels, whether you are looking for value for money and a basic hotel, somewhere just to lie your head at night or a really luxurious hotel with an abundant of facilities where there is no need to leave the hotel if you don't want to! There are also plenty of Apartments and Villas to rent out whether privately or in a complex, again these can be basic with enough to keep you comfortable on your vacation in Mallorca / Majorca or extremely luxurious - home to home, style. With Villas that have loads of land, private pools and other facilities that you would expect to find in a home and villas / apartments in complex's with lots of communal amenities like you would expect to find in a hotel. Although technically the dividing point between the resorts Magaluf and Palma Nova is still somewhere on the rocky headland between the two beaches, the brilliant popular tourist resorts have over the years, grown to the point where they now effectively merge into one! Both Magaluf and Palma Nova have fine sandy beaches with everything on hand, watersports, glass bottom boat trips, as well as countless shops, bars and restaurants are all located along the wide traffic free promenades. For those on self catering breaks, you will never be more than a few hundred yards from either a McDonalds, Wimpey, Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut etc, so you will never starve! Plus many nice restaurants along the seafront and throughout the whole resort - when you get bored of the fast food! The area in and around Magaluf and Palma Nova boasts well over 100 bars. You will also be pleased to note Spanish prices are much more reasonable with the average pint of beer costing you around 2. There will also more than likely be bars offering many drinks promotions. The average meal will cost you around 12, and I mean more than average meal if you compare what we get in England for that money. In the Summer breaks you are recommended to make restaurant bookings if you would like to eat at a reasonable time in the evening as Magaluf is a very popular resort and tends to get particularly busy. Due to the huge numbers of British tourists that come to Magaluf every year and a large number of English style pubs have now opened to target this market, along with clubs and discos which in the summer rarely close before dawn. Palma Nova is however, very marginally the quieter resort, and therefore is perhaps more suited to families. Magaluf is where you will find the world famous BCM nightclub too! One of the most popular evening attractions in the south of the island, for all ages and all Nationalities - is the Pirates Adventure (Els Pirates), which is based on the outskirts of Magaluf. It takes the form of a Dinner/Show with a pirate theme, and has short dialogues in English throughout. They are open 8pm to midnight from April through to October, every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Sunday is reserved for an adults only show! Contact: Address: Pirates Adventure, Carretera la Porrassa, Magaluf Telephone: +34 971 130 411 Fax: +34 971 130 083 From October to around Easter the next year, Magaluf does go through somewhat of a personality change along with its nightlife. As families and the young groups of party goers' begin to leave the island, Magaluf and Palma Nova are then marketed very strongly towards middle aged couples and others who want to take advantage of winter sunshine holidays. Although many of the cafes and restaurants do remain open, the more lively music bars and nightclubs that you associate with the area, close during the week, and only open again at weekends in response to the small number of stag and hen parties that invade the town. Mallorca / Majorca is such a magnificent island you would be mad to visit for your holiday and not explore it! and what better way than in your own rented car?! Hiring a car for a couple of days and going exploring is a brilliant day out, the island is has such beauty that it will take your that some area breath away! The little towns and villages are all easily accessible with decent roads throughout the island. Mopeds are also another means for travelling and exploring the island. These are also available for hire from as little as around 15 euros per day, but you should take extra precautions in Mallorca / Majorca on the roads with a lot of holiday makers frequently involved in accidents because they are either drinking or generally excited and having fun on their holiday that they arent taking due care. Mallorca's Palma Nova beach is definitely one of the best beaches on the Badia de Palma. It has dense greenery surrounding the beach and it also hides many of the large hotels and buildings, this is excellent for families in Mallorca / Majorca. Magaluf beach resort is one of the oldest resorts in Mallorca and still remains ever popular with visitors to the island. Although both beaches are usually kept very tidy, which is partly due to the fact that it is illegal to drink alcohol on the beach, or to take glass bottles of any kind on to them!
