Mahon Tourism
Mahon is the capital of Menorca and also known as Mao. It is a beautiful historical city with much to do in and around. Located at the eastern side of the island with a busy port, and many unusual architectural details. Some of the best restaurants, and bars are situated in Mahon, it also has a fine nightlife. The only golf course in Menorca is located in Mahon. Its a short drive from the airport, and a great place for a holiday in Menorca.
The Punta Prima beach is very close to Mahon and has fine white sand to one side and rocks to the other. Facilities include pedaloes, windsurfing, and sailing equipment available to hire, and parking. The Es Grau beach is also close to Mahon. Es Grau is a sandy beach surrounded by sand dunes and pine trees with a fresh water lake. Situated on the national park near a quaint Spanish fishing village. Local facilities include restaurants, bars, and shops.
There is allot of sights in Mahon; there are Boat Tours, the Caves, Horse Harness Racing, the Park, Military Governors House, Museum of Menorca, the Principal Theatre, St Francesc Church, the Xoriguer Gin Distillery, Yoga classes and much more. Alongside the specific sights just walking around Mahon and soaking up the historical architectural details, then stopping for some tapas and a drink can easily take a day and an enjoyable one at that.
The Club de Golf Son Parc golf course is situated in Mahon. It was designed by Dave Thomas, and is situated close to the sea, surrounded by pine trees, and home to many peacocks. It is a moderately short and even course, trickier on the greens, however the wind can add challenges on every hole. Please see Mahon Golf for more information.
