Mallorca has many beautiful beaches, some quite hard to get to. If you get bored sitting on a beach then take the plunge with some of the great sports that Mallorca / Majorca has got to offer. There are all sorts of watersports available in Mallorca / Majorca, from diving to windsurfing, paragliding to waterskiing, sailing, most fashionable jet skiing - plus many more! You can hire most equipment from the many centres that you will find in the main tourist resorts across the island. In these centres they also have lesson and courses on many of the sports whether you are a beginner or more advanced. The clear waters around Mallorca are the perfect place for diving, especially in the small, shallow coves of the south and east coasts. Here are some diving clubs that will help you explore the wonderful underwater world of Mallorca, whatever your level of experience:
Waterskiing, Jet Skiing, Paragliding and Windsurfing equipment can be hired on most of the major beaches in the tourist resorts, the best places for windsurfing are the beaches and bays at; Cala Ratjada, Es Trenc, Alcudia, Cala Guya and Playa de Palma. Mallorca has 41 marinas, 30 clubs nautics and mooring for 10,000 yachts. Yachts can be chartered locally and most marinas also have facilities for water-skiing and windsurfing too. Highlights throughout the sailing year include the King's Cup in August, the Princess Sofia trophy at Easter, and the Rei en Jaume regatta in July when a flotilla of yachts will recreate the 185-km journey made by Jaume the Conqueror when he landed at Santa Ponsa in 1229.
