If you are looking to paint the town red, the look no further, in true Spanish style once the sun goes down the restaurant, bars and nightclubs come alive!! If you like the hip-swaying salsa music, Live bands, Cover bands, jazz, or anything else then you will find it here! Irish bars and English bars galore!! In Plaza Maspalomas, Sunset Boulevard has live music and entertainment every night with DJs playing the latest music - It is good for pasta dishes, pizzas and freshly grilled meat too! Alabama's is brilliant and probably the best for RnB, soul, blues, reggae and rock & roll you'd be hard pushed to find better live music than here! It is situated next to the Hippodrome. Near Maspalomas Plaza and Kasbah, is Harley Rock this is a favourite haunt with tourists. Harley Rock is an American-style diner with "Tex-Mex" food, that is served till 3am, rock music and live shows. There's a happy hour from midnight till 1am!
Gran Canaria is still one of the top holiday destination for Gay people, down in the south it caters for day and night! Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles being the biggest gay resort in Europe! At night party goers head to Playa del Ingles but during the day they all stay in Maspalomas beach!
At the impressive Maspalomas beach, you can find 250 hectares of sand dunes that are right next to the sea, some find it the most beautiful beach on the island! Maspalomas Beach is divided into four sections, The first section being the best for the children and families, the second and the fourth are normally designated nudist beaches and the third is popular for the gay community. Along the beach there is lots of things to do that will keep you entertained! including the usual sports and leisure facilities, plenty of beach bars and restaurants, shops and if thats not enough close by are some of Gran Canaria's best Waterparks and Theme parks!
If you are planning or looking for more of an active holiday there are plenty of places for you to visit and things to do in and surrounding Maspalomas, Gran Canaria! Including the Water parks, of which there are three all located in the south of the Island and close by to the resort, Aquasur, Ocean Park and Aqua Park. There is also theme and amusement parks, which include; Palmitos Park which is a subtropical oasis and Zoo, Holiday World which is a leisure and amusement park and Mundo Aborigen Located overlooking the Barranco de Fataga, which is the biggest and most dramatic gorge on the island, The Mundo Aborigen is a reconstruction of an ancient Canary village devoted entirely to the Guanche way of life.
Other Tourist Attractions on the island of Gran Canaria include Museums, Monuments and Historical Architectural buildings that are extremely impressive , Churches, Botanical Gardens, more theme parks and lots lots more! There is also water sports and Whale and Dolphin excursions like many of the other Canary Islands! When visiting Gran Canaria it is a must to go exploring the island you will see many wonderful views and scenery, in the mountains, forests, coastal and spectacular beaches or sand dunes! These are all easily accessible from Maspalomas, whether you hire a car and explore in your own private group or perhaps take an excursion, which you can organise through a tour operator or it is easy to find a company that does this in the centre of the resort.
There are plenty of Apartments to rent for your holiday, in Maspalomas, whether you want a basic apartment just to lay your head a night or luxurious with an abundance of facilities! They range in size from studio's or one bedroom apartments if there are just the two of you to three bedroom - normally sleeping up 8 if your taking the family or going in a big group.
There's also the private rentals, Villas and Apartments, that people have bought the property for holiday homes and when they are not there rent out for your exclusive use! These are lovely, normally set in privately owned complexes, where people live! Most come with communal swimming pools too, and these are normally quieter due to this. A word of warning though these are quieter and normally better for families or older groups than the young tourists!!!
Prices range from €45 per day for a Studio in Maspalomas upwards. They will do deals for the longer you have it, it becomes cheaper per day! But generally you are looking from €150 per week for a Studio rental and prices go compared to size and location.
