Menorca Horse Riding
-
A horseback excursion is one
of the best ways to explore the island, especially the parts off
the beaten track not normally visited by tourists. The ancient
holm-oak forests are criss-crossed by old tracks once used to bring
out charcoal which used to be made in the woods, these make perfect
riding routes which then emerge onto flower-covered meadows and hills
with superb views over the island, it is possible to see the hills of
Mallorca in the distance on a clear day.
-
The Cami de
Cavalls (horse road) is an ancient coastal path which
goes right round the island. It has now been fully reinstated and
horse riders can use it to enjoy the fantastic coastal scenery,
particularly along the wild and undeveloped north coast.
- Horseback
excursions are available every day of the year for all ages and
levels of experience. You can choose to ride around the woods and
fields of Santa Rita, one of the original fincas in the centre of the
island less than 30 minutes from Mahon, or take a trip along the Cami
de Cavalls to ride along the coast and across the beaches.
- Excursions
range from one hour around the finca to full days along the Cami de
Cavalls, accompanied by an experienced guide to assist you and to
describe points of interest. Beginners and children can confidently
enjoy a leisurely walk on a quiet horse, on a lead reign in they
prefer, while more experienced and energetic riders will be able to
trot or canter if they wish. For competent riders, an exhilarating
gallop through the fields or along the beach on a fast horse is a must!
- Menorca a
Cavall is open every day. Tel: 971 37 46 37 for details
