Motril Beaches Motril has a long stretch of picturesque coastline flanked by high mountains. It consists mainly of sandy coves & rocky outcrops formed by the mountains as they slope down towards the seafront. Great care & attention is paid to litter collection, & lifeguards/police patrols operate in the most popular spots. This beach experiences moderate levels of occupancy during the summer months, & so there are a small collection of restaurants to satisfy the lunchtime hunger pangs. Facilities include;  Sun beds & umbrellas, toilets & showers, life guards, & regular police patrols. Playa de Poniente / Poniente Beach Playa Poniente is the most visited beach in Motril largely due to its location running along the city's most central zones. It is flanked by commercial outlets of all kinds, including many restaurants & bars serving fresh food. At one end of the beach is the marina, & two camping businesses are also in operation. Poniente beach is both long & wide, measuring over 2 kilometres in total. Facilities include;  Sun beds & umbrellas, toilets & showers, water sports, life guards, & regular police patrols. Playa Las Azucenas / Las Azucenas Beach Playa Las Azucenas is a long sandy beach flanking a largely agricultural zone on the outskirts of Motril. Here the sugar cane plantations extend right up to the coast. Due to its rural location this beach does not posses much in the way of services & facilities, though there is a diving club present.
