Malaga International Airport (AGP) offers air connections with most major European cities, while the resident airport at Granada offers more in the way of national routes. As the main commercial port for the Costa Tropical, Motril is better connected with other regions/prominent cities in Spain than its coastal neighbours. This makes it an ideal destination for exploring southern Spain. The N-323 will take visitors to Granada in just 45 minutes, & its relatives to Malaga in 1.5 hours, & Seville in 2.5 hours. Motril first prospered as Granada's nearest port, & was further enriched at the height of the sugar trade in Spain, when many municipal buildings were added; beautifying the city. This ends an ambience to Motril not shared by many other coastal resorts. Needless to say there are also a more than adequate selection of bars, clubs, & other venues present to help entertain the masses. As mentioned above one of Motril's big draws is its diversity, & this is carried through to the accommodation on offer. There are a multitude of good quality & affordable options on hotels & other rental properties; these cater for high-end to budget travel requirements. Motril Beaches are generally long, wide & sandy, though there are rocky alternatives for those who prefer a spot of snorkeling.
