Pamplona Fiestas As a city of great standing and tradition Pamplona's fiestas are among the best in Spain. There are many fiestas throughout its calendar, some larger than others. Below we list some of the most popular events.
Pamplona is most famous for its San Fermin fiesta (or festival) which takes place during the month of July (6th-14th). The most notable aspect of this celebration is the running of the bulls, which takes place through the streets of the city's oldest quarter. Members of the public take part in these morning events (including many foreigners), coming to test their bravery against the six large bulls that are to fight in the afternoon's bullfight, and later in the day the two herds of tame bulls. Aside from bull-running and bull fights the San Fermin festival is not to be missed as the city comes alive day and night for it's duration. There is something for everyone with children's activities during the daytime, a mix of events in the late afternoon/evening, and partying throughout the night.
Precise dates cannot be given for many of the above festivities due to ever changing dates. The best advice we can give for those planning their holiday at fiesta time is to contact the relevant tourist office. Pamplona Tourist Office TEL +34 948 206540 FAX +34 948 207034
