Picasso Museum The Picasso Museum is one of Barcelona's most popular tourist attractions. It inhabits no less than five interlinking urban palaces on the Carrer de Montcada, one of Barcelona's oldest streets. Although Picasso was born in Malaga his family moved to Barcelona when the artist was still fairly young, & it was not until he lived here that he started his long career. The museum opened in 1963 & houses many important works from the artists early career onwards (totalling over 3,500), as well as some well known masterpeices. Many of them were donated by Picassso himself, by his friends & his family. Regular temporary exhibitions focus on different aspects of Picasso's life, his relationship with the city, & the varying activities he was inloved with. A good library is also on-site, together with a gift shop, & cafe-restaurant.
