Pineda Tourist / Tourism Pineda is situated at the gateway to the Montnegre National Park, which means it is partially surrounded by a lush forested area. Its well kept beaches measure over three kilometres, are made up of course golden sand, & have been awarded the European blue flag. Additionally the mountainous region near Pineda is favoured amongst those who travel to the area to participate in adventure sports; this can vary from hiking & mountain biking, to rock climbing & (a little farther North) skiing. These facts, together with Pineda being within easy driving distance of both Girona & Barcelona airports, have ensured a steady stream of visiting tourists. So a multitude of hotel & apartment complexes were built along the town's front, followed by numerous cafes, restaurants, bars, & modern retail outlets. In recent years residential tourism has also had an impact, with city dwelling Spaniards & residents of other European nations buying second homes in the area to use as holiday homes, or as an investment.
