If you are looking to paint the town red, the look no further, in true Spanish style once the sun goes down the restaurant, bars and nightclubs come alive!! If you like the hip-swaying salsa music, Live bands, Cover bands, jazz, or anything else then you will find it here! Irish bars and English bars galore!! Head for Kasbah, Playa del Ingles where you can take your pick of hundreds of bars, disco pubs and nightclubs. There are gay bars and clubs, cocktail bars, Irish bars, sports bars, café bars with live music and almost every other kind of bar imaginable. Two of the more popular clubs in town are Joy, here it plays pop and commercial music, and Cream, here it plays more hardcore dance music.
Holiday World which is a late night amusement park, is in Playa del Ingles it has bars and 2 discos in too! It is free entry to most of the nightclubs but you can spend a lot on drinks as they can tend to be a lot more expensive! The bigger clubs don't really get going until around 1am but then they can party well into the early hours, It may be a good idea to join in the locals tradition and take a siesta so you can keep up with the pace!
Gran Canaria is still one of the top holiday destination for Gay people, down in the south it caters for day and night! Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles being the biggest gay resort in Europe! At night the Yumbo centre in Playa del Ingles is the place to be! During the day and early evening this centre is alive with families and tourists shopping and eating, but at about 10.30pm there is a noticeable change round where's those families retire to bed and the gay community settle in! Although a few straight people stay and mingle and watch the drag shows at Cafe Labelle. Although most gay men prefer the action at Centre Stage where every night is Julie Andrews night! At about 4am the bars upstairs start to wind down this is when the large disco bars kick in, XL and Kings - you really haven't done gay Gran Canaria until you partied the night away at Kings until 6am!
There is a brilliant beach in the largest tourist area of the island, Playa del Ingles, it has some of the most beautiful beaches of the island either side! Together with Maspalomas and San Agustín it is the biggest holiday complex in the whole of Spain!! This beach has fun and sun as it offers all kinds of leisure and sports activities such as sailing, windsurfing, jet-ski, water skiing plus lots, lots more !! Plus many beach bars and restaurants, whatever you feel like doing... you can find it there!
If you are planning or looking for more of an active holiday there are plenty of places for you to visit and things to do in and surrounding Playa del Ingles, Gran Canaria! Including the Water parks, of which there are three all located in the south of the Island and close by to the resort, Aquasur, Ocean Park and Aqua Park. There is also theme and amusement parks, which include; Palmitos Park which is a subtropical oasis and Zoo, Holiday World which is a leisure and amusement park and Mundo Aborigen Located overlooking the Barranco de Fataga, which is the biggest and most dramatic gorge on the island, The Mundo Aborigen is a reconstruction of an ancient Canary village devoted entirely to the Guanche way of life.
Other Tourist Attractions on the island of Gran Canaria include Museums, Monuments and Historical Architectural buildings that are extremely impressive , Churches, Botanical Gardens, more theme parks and lots lots more! There is also water sports and Whale and Dolphin excursions like many of the other Canary Islands! When visiting Gran Canaria it is a must to go exploring the island you will see many wonderful views and scenery, in the mountains, forests, coastal and spectacular beaches or sand dunes! These are all easily accessible from Playa del Ingles, whether you hire a car and explore in your own private group or perhaps take an excursion, which you can organise through a tour operator or it is easy to find a company that does this in the centre of the resort.
There are plenty of Apartments to rent for your holiday, in Playas del Ingles, whether you want a basic apartment just to lay your head a night or luxurious with an abundance of facilities! They range in size from studio's or one bedroom apartments if there are just the two of you to three bedroom - normally sleeping up 8 if your taking the family or going in a big group.
There's also the private rentals, Villas and Apartments, that people have bought the property for holiday homes and when they are not there rent out for your exclusive use! These are lovely, normally set in privately owned complexes, where people live! Most come with communal swimming pools too, and these are normally quieter due to this. A word of warning though these are quieter and normally better for families or older groups than the young tourists!!!
Prices range from €40 per day for a Studio in Playas del Ingles upwards. They will do deals for the longer you have it, it becomes cheaper per day! But generally you are looking from €150 per week for a Studio rental and prices go compared to size and location.
