The Canary Islands is duty free, so that includes Tenerife and Playa de las Americas! So if you are looking to buy tobacco, wines, spirits, Jewellery and perfumes, look no further they are much cheaper here than in other EU countries!
If whilst on holiday you are wanting to do some serious shopping, then you will have to leave Playa de las Americas and go across the island where there are several shopping centre's which have sprung up! There's; Corte Ingles department store in Santa Cruz, Carrefour off the TF-1 motorway and Continente next to the TF-5 motorway.
In Playa de las Americas, has all the usual extremely cheap electrical goods, so if you are wanting a new camera or maybe somehing else then take a look at the prices here! It also has the usual souvenir shops and a small array of clothes shops mostly with clubbing hear and bikinis! There are a lot of local craft shops such as, volcanic sculptures, embroidery and pottery. Though this is more common in Los Cristianos and in the El Duque commercial centre. There is the;
Place of Pearls - this is a fantastic thousand square feet completely devoted to pearls and pearl jewellery!!

If you, like me like the markets for a good haggle and great bargain there are plenty across the island of Tenerife, But only one in Playa de las Americas and a few close by...Make sure you try to barter as it makes that bargain even more satisfying!!!

- Torviscas, open Thursdays and Saturdays from 10am till 2pm
- Los Cristianos - Based opposite the Gran Hotel Arona, open Sundays 10am till 2pm
