Porto Saler Tourist Information
Porto Saler is a small town located in north west Formentera, in between the towns of La Savina (to the west) and Las Salinas (to the east). Although Porto Saler does not have a beach of its own there are many near including; La Savina beach, Illetas/Tanga beach, Levante/Tanga beach, and Sa Torreta on Espalmador Island to name a few. There is very little in Porto Saler itself but much nearby, this is some peoples idea of heaven! The best time to visit Porto Saler is between May and October, high season is from June to September.
Espalmador island is great fun for a day from Formentera. Espalmador is a small uninhabited island located just 150m from Formentera and measures 3km x 1km. There are many beaches with fine golden sand, no facilities at all so take plenty of food, drink, and suncream, it is unknown whether nudity is accepted on Espalmador island.
There are many sporting activities to choose from in Formentera including; windsurfing, fishing, sailing, fishing, boating, cycling, hiking, snorkeling, scuba diving, bird watching, painting, and photography. You can visit the sand dunes, caves, lakes, windmills, view points, lighthouses, and markets to name but a few.
Formentera is an unspoilt island great for a relaxing "get away from it all" holiday. Home to most of the best beaches within the Balearics with white fine sand, shallow crystal clear waters, with very good underwater visibility (perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving). Most beaches have bars selling drinks and tapas, allot have boats for hire and all are recommended for snorkeling, and scuba diving. Most of the beaches in Formentera are tolerant of the nudists and some are completely naked, nudist, au naturale beaches.
