The resort of Puerto Rico is a brilliant and popular resort in Gran Canaria, with tourist of all kinds although particularly with British families. It can be extremely busy during the peak season and lovely and quite during the low season! Situated at the mouth of a large valley, with lush greenery and built on steep rising slopes! Puerto Rico was once a small fishing port, although today it is covered with Hotels and apartments! This beautiful resort boasts a lovely harbour, renowned for a sailing centre. Some of the members of the sailing club have already achieved five Olympic medals. This harbour is also renowned for its deep sea fishing as some 50 world records have been held from fishermen leaving the port!

In Puerto Rico, you will find one of the liveliest nightspots, Snoopy's Bar, Snoopy's is a late night party pub that is frequented by the young and trendy! However Barbacoa Puerto Rico, has seating for 300 and puts on three free shows a night, with everything from international vocalists and 'soundalikes' to crude comedians.
Puerto Rico’s beach is a made up of golden sand that has been imported from the Sahara, it is an ideal playground for children. In a lush tropical garden with exotic plants and flowers, just set back from the beach itself, you will find two lidos. These are renowned for being the sunniest spot of the island, it is a true paradise for sun worshippers! It is also known for the many water sports activities that it offers including sailing, water-skiing, diving and windsurfing to leisure excursions such as, Big-game fishing, pleasure boat trips along the coast, dolphin watching cruises or a trip in a glass bottom boat!
If you are planning or looking for more of an active holiday there are plenty of places for you to visit and things to do in and surrounding Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria! Including the Water parks, of which there are three all located in the south of the Island and close by to the resort, Aquasur, Ocean Park and Aqua Park, which is actually in Puerto Rico.
Other Tourist Attractions on the island of Gran Canaria include Museums, Monuments and Historical Architectural buildings that are extremely impressive , Churches, Botanical Gardens, more theme parks and lots lots more! There is also water sports and Whale and Dolphin excursions like many of the other Canary Islands! When visiting Gran Canaria it is a must to go exploring the island you will see many wonderful views and scenery, in the mountains, forests, coastal and spectacular beaches or sand dunes! These are all easily accessible from Puerto Rico, whether you hire a car and explore in your own private group or perhaps take an excursion, which you can organise through a tour operator or it is easy to find a company that does this in the centre of the resort.
Gran Canaria boast's six golf courses and there four more under construction at present! With the all year round weather no wonder it has become one of the top destinations for a golfing holiday!! Three of the courses are based in the south and three are in the north, although there is only a radius of 50km between them so you can try your and at all of the different golf courses.
There are plenty of Apartments to rent for your holiday, in Puerto Rico, whether you want a basic apartment just to lay your head a night or luxurious with an abundance of facilities! They range in size from studio's or one bedroom apartments if there are just the two of you to three bedroom - normally sleeping up 8 if your taking the family or going in a big group.
There's also the private rentals, Villas and Apartments, that people have bought the property for holiday homes and when they are not there rent out for your exclusive use! These are lovely, normally set in privately owned complexes, where people live! Most come with communal swimming pools too, and these are normally quieter due to this. A word of warning though these are quieter and normally better for families or older groups than the young tourists!!!
Prices range from €35 per day for a Studio in Puerto Rico upwards. They will do deals for the longer you have it, it becomes cheaper per day! But generally you are looking from €150 per week for a Studio rental and prices go compared to size and location.
