Reus Modernism The city of Reus benefited greatly from the Modernist era. In an effort to bring the city in line with other Catalan centres, the late 19th century saw considerable municipal & private investment made in the alteration of existing structures as well as building of new ones. Prestigious architects like Domenech i Montaner were brought in for some of the early city projects, & these designs influenced much of what was to follow. The result is a city centre peppered with Modernist architecture. More than twenty notable constructs from the period are deemed worth visiting. A town hall sponsored modernist trail walking route is even in operation (& is well sign-posted around central areas).
