Roses Holidays The Ancient town of Roses on the Costa Brava is a great place to travel to for your holidays. Firstly it is easy to get to via one of two international airports; Barcelona Airport (BCN), which is Spain's second ranked airport in terms of passenger traffic & amongst the ten busiest in Europe, & Girona Airport (GRO) offering yet more flight options & closer proximity to the Costa's main resorts. Those intending on visiting other parts of Spain or indeed travelling into the south of France will find Roses an ideal base to do this from. This is mainly from an accessibility point of view, but also because of the wide choice of accommodation on offer. Aside from it's many historic treasures, Roses offers plenty to entertain those keen on a more relaxing holiday. It's seafront is made up of a string of well serviced golden sandy beaches, & the town's central streets are packed with restaurants, cafes, & bars; some of them of an exceptionally high quality. Roses has a resident population of around 15,000 with this number jumping to around 90,000 during the summer months. In recent times residential tourism has contributed significantly to this figure, with many foreign residents buying up property in the Roses area. Although (unlike neigbouring town's such as Lloret de Mar) Roses was not heavily developed for tourism in the 1950's, it still boasts an excellent selection of hotels & other accommodation options from which to choose. Roses also has great sports facilities, with almost all types catered for in the town & a good selection of golf courses outside of it. The varied countryside surrounding Roses is favoured amongst those who travel to the area to participate in adventure sports, from hiking & mountain biking to rock climbing & skiing. In fact some of the most central Roses Beaches are blue flag rated & kept meticulously clean. The majority of the most popular offerings are made up of golden sand, but there are pebbled beaches & rocky alcoves for those who prefer to indulge in a spot of snorkeling. Roses Weather is in the main welcoming all year round. With average highs of 29°C (82°F) in the summer months & 13°C (55°F) in the winter, it is possible to enjoy an outdoor life at any time of the year. However be aware during the winter season low temperatures can be a good deal cooler than in Spain's southern regions.
