Royal Palace of Seville The Royal Palace of Seville (also known as the Alcazar or Reales Alcazares) is an ancient Mudejar style palace in the centre of the city. Work on it was started by the Moors in the early 10th century, though added to in subsequent generations (by both Moorish & Christian rulers). The resulting construct is something quite unique & well worth a visit. The palace is still is use by the Spanish royal family as a holiday home. The gardens of the palace are an important part of the attraction. They comprise an array of beautiful yet very different offerings. As one may expect there are a number of Mudejar style gardens, several Renaissance gardens, a beautiful English landscaped garden from the turn of the century, the Las Delicias romantic garden, a closed garden, and the poets garden.
